Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
At times, I get so focused on myself, I forget how truly blessed I am. Just recently, my truck engine seized, my wife’s car stopped running, then our hot water heater went out, and now our home air conditioner went out.
In the midst of all these things, I felt despair and anger at my misfortune. God has used several individuals in my life to show me my first world problems are nothing he cannot handle.
My boss helped me get a new vehicle, my pastor has offered to help me fix my wife’s car, my family helped replace the water heater, and my boss has agreed to help me get the air conditioner fixed.
God knew I couldn’t do any of these alone, and once I realized I couldn’t fix the problems, I turned to God as I so often do when I am overwhelmed. Once I was humble and thankful for God, he has blessed me with solutions.
God does not make bad things happen, but uses them for his benefit. Much like good police officers who do not cause crime, but receive recognition when they stop it, God is our protector, provider, and guidance.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” —1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
