Purpose In Life

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What is the purpose of life? Modern Science says life is meaningless, a large experiment to be studied. Modern Religion says it is to become a better person. What does the Bible say?

According to the verse in Jeremiah above, God declares he has plans for us. Plans for good, not evil.

Does this mean He predestined us? Only to the point of He has plans for us, but we have to fulfill our end and seek Him. We must read our Bible, and pray continually. We must put aside our selfish desires to desire His will for our lives.

Like a military general, God merely draws the plans, but we must execute them. Unlike a military general, God is there with each of us on the front lines. You are never alone on this journey in life.

So what to do first? Surrender! Give up your desires, your wants and chase after God. Do not delay, the longer you wait, the less life you have to live for Him!

“And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’” – Acts 22:16
