Read Exodus 14
When the Israelites fled Egypt, they ran to the desert. God gave direction to Moses to corner themselves against the Red Sea. He told Moses this would entice Pharaoh to send his army after them and God would use this to strike fear into the Egyptians.
When the Israelites saw the Egyptian army heading for them, the cried out in fear. They asked why Moses would lead them from Egypt to die in the desert. Moses tells them:
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14
How often do we cry out in fear, facing overwhelming odds alone? The thing is that if you belong to God, you are never alone. God uses all events work together for the good of His people.
In this situation, God created a barrier between the Israelites and the Egyptians. He had Moses raise his staff at the Red Sea to part the waters. Once the Israelites were safe, the barrier lifted. The Egyptian army followed and God instructed Moses to lower his staff. As Moses did, the sea crashed back down killing all of Pharaoh’s army. The Egyptians were afraid because they were not facing the Israelites, but God Himself.
Live fearlessly for God and let Him fight your battles when you feel weak. Be still in the face of adversity and He will deliver victory to you.
