Read: 2 Kings 2:19-22
After God led Joshua to destroy Jericho, He promised a curse on any who dared to rebuild it. About 550 years later, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt it losing two sons in the process. The people who moved to Jericho were being poisoned by the water source near the town.
When Elisha visited, the citizens of Jericho called to him, asking for his blessing. Elisha asked for a bowl of salt. Blessing the bowl of salt, Elisha tosses it into the water, purifying it.
